Healthy Futures Challenge

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I am pleased to announce our school will be participating in the Healthy Futures Challenge again this year. The challenge will run for three months, September, October, and November. The program has been revised and I am excited about the changes. In addition to being happier and healthier, students are rewarded for participating in Healthy Futures. In exchange for turning in a completed log, students will receive a prize. Students that participate and turn in completed logs for all three months will be eligible to win a sports duffel bag in a drawing.

How does your child participate in Healthy Futures? With your assistance, your child records physical activity on the Healthy Futures Activity Log for a consecutive 4-week period. The goal is a minimum of 60 minutes of physical activity with increased heart rate daily for over 15 days in four consecutive weeks. PE and active recess time counts towards the daily 60 minutes. Students turn in completed logs to their teacher at the end of the month to receive their prize.

This is a wonderful program that is sure to benefit your child and our school. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Your school nurse,
Laura Peek, RN
